The origins of Silla date back to the Roman period, with archaeological remains preserved in the MARS Archaeological and History Museum. Later, during the Andalusian period, it became a Muslim farmhouse (alqueria) protected by a defensive tower that formed part of the defensive network of Balansiya. Following the conquest of King Jaume I (James I of Aragon) in the 13th century, Silla became a feudal town, and new landmarks such as its churches were built.
