Cyclotourisme: “The Irrigation Heritage of València’s Farmland in l’Horta Sud: Manises and Quart de Poblet”

This route takes us through the municipalities of Manises and Quart de Poblet, where we will explore in depth some hydraulic structures which, taken together, form a unique system in the world. These structures make irrigation in l’Horta de València possible: the Mestalla and Mislata irrigation weirs, the new Repartiment weir and the new Turia river channel, a water distributor of Muslim origin and the Horquillas aqueduct.

The route will also help us understand how the millennia-old institution that regulates this system, the Tribunal de las Aguas (Water Tribunal), works. This institution is recognised as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
